Abstract
E-Learning is kind of lecturing system which is based on the internet, and it provides a diversified and classified virtual learning opportunity by increasing interactions between students and lecturers. Recently, e-Learning has been a booming issue in Korean education. It is because educational circumstances are rapidly changing and e-Learning makes it possible to perform student centered education and it can overcome the drawbacks of traditional teaching system which empathize the role of lecturer over the role of the students. Contrary to those traditional philosophy, we strongly believe that students should play a key role in learning activities. In this paper, we are specifically concerned with literary activities, especially poetry education. If we were able to lead students to perform literary activities by themselves, e-Learning could be one of the most attractive education system in literary education.
However, we have faced some difficulties in applying this system to literary education especially poetry education, and we have experienced a limitation in terms of translating the contents of teaching and learning in traditional education system to that of a student-centered learning system. Therefore, the educational worth of e-Learning system has not been embraced until now. Recently, so-called concept of story-telling contents, which empathizes the problem-solving process has been widely introduced to maximize the interactive characteristics of on-line education. However, it also has the possibility that students may feel uncomfortable with this new method.
Very careful design of contents and interaction activities in e-Learning system should be considered to assist students in enjoying the understanding of poetry actively, and to have the students feel the poetry content as part of the overall literary experience. In this paper, we will show that the concept of story-telling contents may help students to think narratively, and induce the creative understanding of literature. In addition, it is possible to lead students to become immersed in the content of poetry through the technology of UI, which supports the intuitive perception, and is consistent with the objective of study.
