Directions on Korean Language Education of Multicultural Learners in Secondary Schools

Abstract
Park, Young-min This paper investigated how to educate multicultural learners in secondary schools. It is ordinary situation to find multicultural learners in secondary classroom nowadays. Many multicultural learners are entering the secondary schools after graduating elementary schools. Because they have unfamiliar environment from other Korean native students, it is necessary to modify the last frame of Korean Language education and curriculum. When the frame of them reform for multicultural students, there are efficient and better instruction in Korean Language education. Therefore this paper conclude that these are four the directions on Korean language education in secondary schools. First, revising the concepts of Korean language and Korean language competence, second, reforming the classroom culture of Korea secondary school for multicultural students. Third, teaching the learning words, or vocabulary for learning in content area subjects. In addition to these directions, it is important for multicultural students to activate the learning motivation and learning efficacy. multicultural students need more bigger motivation to engage learning against Korea native students.
