Chung, Hye-seung This study intended to suggest the direction that the Korean language education curriculum should go forward to in the intrinsic attributes of language and communication paying attention to the aspects that SMART education not only enhance students’ adaptability to the information and communication technology society but also set self-initiative and independent learning ability as important values, and regardless of changes in paradigms of society and education, Korean language education is a course dealing with language and communication all the time. From the point of view where characteristics of human are in language and communication, and the language and communication work by the ethical principles such as respect for human life and cooperation, it is discussed that Korean language education in the era of SMART education should be reformed to the direction that the principles could be realized in. The goals of the Korean language education curriculum should include understanding of language and human who exists as a language and awareness of ethical characteristics of language and communication, and in order to achieve them, the content for fostering ethical awareness of language and collaborative communication attitudes should be enhanced. Moreover, in the aspects of teaching and learning methods, it is claimed that teachers should understand students as subjects of communication and construct learning situations in that their intention to communicate is a basis. 48
