A Critical Consideration on Practices of Communicative Theory in Novel Education

Abstract
Jeong, Jin Seok This study aims to review transition of ‘practices of communicative theory’ in novel education critically, and find improvement plans. To achieve this, from the 4th national curriculum that fist introduce ‘practices of communicative theory’ to 2009 revised national curriculum, curriculum guide, textbooks and teachers guidebooks are examined. As a result, theoretical base and educational contents of ‘practices of communicative theory’ are revealed. Practices of communicative theory in novel education are built upon ‘rhetorical approaches to narrative’, ‘M. H. Abrahms`s classification scheme of criticism’ and ‘reception theory’. First, analysis on author`s rhetorical activity is suggested as a educational content in practice on rhetorical approaches. Second, overall understanding for novel text is suggested in practice on classification scheme of criticism. Third, reader`s activity and interpretation`s diversity are emphasized in practice on reception theory. To succeed outcome and overcome the limitations through referring foregoing historical consideration, improvement plans for ‘practice of communicative theory’ in novel education are suggested on structure, circumstance, ethics of communication.
