Abstract
Im Chilseong This study examines the Joseon Eomun vocabulary distribution of the seventh grade by frequency, parts of speech, and lexical type, and compared the results with those in the South and North. In its frequency distribution, Joseon Eomun shows a strong tendency toward ‘individualism’. By comparing the frequency distribution of three words for mother “eom-ma : eo-meo-ni : eo-meo-nim” we can see that Joseon Eomun is the language of past times. Unlike South Korean or North Korean textbooks, the frequency distribution of “eo-meo-mi” is higher than that of “eom-ma” in Joseon Eomun. In terms of distribution of the parts of speech, it was confirmed that the educational content of Joseon Eomun is relatively similar to that of South Korean textbook rather than that of North Korea. For each lexical type distribution, Joseon Eomun has a higher ratio of Chinese characters than that of South Korea or North Korea, a lower ratio of native languages, and higher number of old Chinese words and phrases that are common with North Korean. This distribution of vocabulary shows that the Chinese ethnic Koreans have inherited the language from the time they settled down. k e y w o r d s Joseon Eomun, Vocabulary Measurement, High Frequency Vocabulary, Vocabulary Distribution by Parts of Speech, Vocabulary Distribution by Lexical Types, Language of Chinese Ethnic Koreans 225
