Abstract
This paper aims at comparing two Korean learners' different learning strategies and getting some understanding about the difference of learning process in a Korean language class at an US university. Self-report, open interview and participant observation are the main methods in this research. Of two students, one was using learning strategies to maximize his experience of exposure to Korean. The other student without any experience of Korean learning was referring and applying what he had learned as his main strategies in the class. Every student has his or her own language background and different experience of Korean language. Managing that kind of class is one of the real problem in Korean class. It is necessary to understand the difference of learning strategies in the class for getting some resolution on that problem. For the students with Korean learning background, some plan to utilize their Korean experience and provide tasks and activity is required. And for the students without Korean learning, it is needed to consider some plan to teach Korean knowledge grammar as their referring frame for Korean learning. Korean teacher education should include the understanding on the differences of learning strategies.
