Language culture in a local community refers to language and life in a village community in which common folks have been getting along themselves day by day. If it holds, it would be natural, in the Korean Language Education, to teach students the same contents of language and life with which they are going to realize their various lives near future. Over a half century history of the Korean Language Education, however, has not paid attention at all to the very reality of language and life in a village community, although we planned all of the language programs for ourselves with no intervention outside. This paper unfolds the reason why we did not take care of our authentic language and life with which we live every second in a village community, especially reflecting on the contents of school pedagogy and the Korean language education we have done so far. This paper consecutively suggests a way how we manage to teach language and life in a village community on the right track, even from the tardy time point of now on. There may need cooperation among the personnels from main body such as theorists on language pedagogy, officials in education system, and practitioners to establish a new promising way for language and life in a village community — in other words, if we hope to attain a curriculum, a textbook, and a teacher in a fitted way. It puts an emphasis on practitioners, the Korean language teachers, who may/should run to innovate the situation, regardless of difficulties ahead. Dividing language into daily form and aesthetic one, a method is introduced how we may adopt language and life of a village community into our classroom. It would also be a careful thought to consult with theorists on the related issues in question on an occasion of scholarly conferences.
