Judging from the reality of the regional culture transmission, the interests for implementation and educational aspects should be treated as important things. Culture is not limited to knowledge itself, but can be regarded as a power to enliven people's lives and to make them lead their own lives independently. This study aims to emphasize the importance of the regional culture education and to examine the school education, culture education, regional culture education, and the 7th national curriculum. The Korean language education for the regional culture education is also examined.
Through the education of the Korean language, especially through the education of the word-of-mouth or folk cultures, a new direction of culture education can be built. The culture of the daily lives, included in the living languages and oral tradition, the regionalism reflected in the oral literature and its re-creation, the recovery of nature-friendly lives and the world view of coexistence, and the participating learning and regional culture succeeding are the main tasks for the activation of the regional culture. This study is significant in that the interests for practices of regional culture traditions and the Korean language education are related together. It also contributes to make the area of the Korean language education extending to a new study direction.
