Abstract
Picture story books are a genre in children's literature that represents fiction by using words and pictures combined. Individual characters in picture story books are represented in contents. Words and pictures in story books contents depend on each other for meaning. Those who don't understand the relationship between words and pictures may not know how to combine them. The organizing of contents of picture story books undergoes a process where words are created and pictures are related to their meanings. The narrative structure in storybooks is formed by the contents or its words. Bringing words and pictures together helps relay to the reader the narrative information. Pictures explain concretely the meaning of words or represent symbolically the meaning behind the words. According to various translations, organizing contents in picture story books can be done in 3 ways, that is, by making use of descriptions, interpretations, and allusions. The way of organizing contents in picture story books indicates the underlying order inherent in the direction the writing and its reading has taken.
