Traditionally, a textbook has been recognized as the most important teaching materials, and it can be said that a textbook occupies an absolute position in education when textbook-centered education that a textbook is identified with a curriculum is performed like Korea. Like this, the study on a textbook should be treated with weight to the extent that it occupies an important position in education. It is, however, difficult to see that the study on a textbook has been so actively performed compared to the importance also in Korea like America, and concentrative research on a textbook is actually insufficient to the extent of the scarcity of a separate volume related to a textbook in the case of the department of the Korean language. In this study, I have analyzed the flow of the study on a textbook which has been carried out in Korean education circles on the aspects of the contents and methods of the study centered on theses by categorizing the scope of the study on a textbook into 1) the study on its system, 2) the analysis of its contents and the study on the relatedness between it and a curriculum, 3) the study on its text materials, 4) the study on its use, 5) the study on the directions of developing it. Based on the consciousness of problem that I raised while analyzing the study related to a textbook, I have suggested that the study on it should be performed in the paradigm of executing it out of the paradigm of developing it, that positive methods of study should be introduced, that the extension of the study should be expanded, and that the study related to the evaluation of a textbook should be performed.
