This paper aims at studying the characteristics of internet novels such as Guiyeoni's works and aims at knowing the meaning of internet novels in Korean language education. The characteristics of internet novels are as follows. First, the authors and reader of internet novels are teenagers. Almost all of the stories are about their life. Second, the novels have strong vulgarity and simple plots which have been rated low from the point of conventional view. Third, the novels are also written in electronic language and are composed of the screens which have the characteristics of multimedia. The last, The authors usually have their own homepage and they use bulletin board to publish their works. From the viewpoint of Korean language education, we can deal with the internet novels as a kind of common culture by teenagers or a kind of counter-cultural movement against the old generation. In relation to this, we have to recognize the difference between the attitude of cognition of things by old generation and that by teenagers who make good use of internet. The latter perceive cyberliterature a pleasant play and destroy the dichotomy between author and reader. In addition, we are also on guard against the managers of networks which are the basis of internet and against the capitalists of publishing world who profit by publishing the paperbacks of internet novels. It is very important for the experts of Korean language education to emphasize the original goal of their works. As we know, the goal is to cultivate people of autonomy and democracy. In the long run, the goal accord with the basic duty of literature including cyberliterature which pursue the real human condition. In order to reach the accord, the authors and readers of internet novels recognize their identity not as onlookers but as participants.
