How to establish unit organization and unit development of the textbook is the most important portion in text development process.
In this study, I surveyed many korean textbooks of the different period curriculums and foreign textbook units to find out some direction and principle of unit organization of korean textbook for the future education and proposed new unit design and learning activity.
First of all, I analysed forth degree korean textbook of 3~7th period curriculum in aspects of unit organization and unit development and suggested new principle unit organization and development.
In formal aspects, as the principle of unit organization, I emphasized the reflection of reciprocal aspect among the many unit organization methods and the pursuit of integration in language activities.
In contents aspects, I suggested the use of intertextuality and the strengthening of media literacy and pursuit of diversified across subject in textbook, and for the learner's aspects, I suggest the strengthening of beginning literacy of the elementary lower classes and the pursuit of distinguished learning method suitable for the learner's level.
As the principle of the unit development, I emphasized the guarantee of the independent introduction and arrange learning, the effective reflection of evaluation function, the setting of independent learning goal, the pursuit of clear perception in the instruction of subsidiary learning, unit development by using multiple intelligence, unit development by using project learning activity, the variety learning activities which help to extend the thinking ability, and the process oriented unit development which was devised by considering the metacognition.
On the basis of these principles, I also suggested the actual practices of unit design and learning activities by using the system of goal oriented unit according to the each field.
And I hope that this study which debated unit organization and unit development of textbook be supplemented by the practical and constant textbook study which was closely connected which the actual classroom practices.
