Abstract
Kong Soungsu Summarizing is a technique of writing that compresses and organizes the given material(source-text). Paraphrasing means a highly sophisticated strategy that reconfigures source-text and translates it into the writer’s own language. However, it does not mean simple writing techniques or strategies that are simple to digest and simply lack the source-text. The ability to hierarchically construct and reconstruct information is ultimately linked to human cognitive ability. In terms of education, summarizing and paraphrasing could help students understand source-text deeply. Summarizing and paraphrasing help students connect it to another contexts, too. Of course, students can increased the ability to assimilate knowledge when they are given opportunities to interact with data and to restate it as their own language. Therefore, summarizing and paraphrasing are regarded as modules of efficient teaching methods that can apply to various subjects. Using the appropriate types of tasks to summarise and paraphrase the data will stimulate students’ active thinking. k e y w o r d s summary, paraphrase, source-based writing, teaching method, leaner- centered education, cognitive ability
