Abstract
Yang Sehui This study aims to make suggestions on how sentence constituent education should be implemented along with extended grammar awareness. In Korean language education, with increasing language awareness, grammar awareness has changed and extended to the(a) “accuracy”’ level, at which grammar rules are systematically understood from a structural perspective, (b) “appropriacy” level, at which grammar is used according to a speaker(writer)’s intention or context from the perspective of purposeful communication, and the (c) “critical” level, at which grammar is strategically used from the perspective of social practice actions . According to such changes, grammar constituent education can be classified as follows: i) ellipsis of sentence constituents based on linguistic information, from the perspective of accuracy; ii) ellipsis of sentence constituents depending on contexts and focalization of sentence constituents by speakers’ intention, from the perspective of appropriacy; and iii) ellipsis of sentence constituents, as a device for concealing and exposing, shift of them, as a device for modifying and selection of the subject, as representation of social actors, from the critical perspective.
