Abstract
Choi Sunhee · Kim Jeongeun This study starts with the awareness of the problem that although fairness has been continuously addressed in Korean language education, there is a lack of research on the concept of fairness and criteria for judgment. As fairness is recognized as a scaffold for seeking the sociocultural approach to text in the process of producing critical recognition regarding language into educational contents, Chapter 2 examines how the concept of fairness has been mentioned in fields such as political philosophy or journalism so far. Accordingly, it attempts to clarify the concept of fairness and associations between that and relevant concepts by reviewing related studies performed in the area of Korean language education. Chapter 3 critically analyzes how fairness is embodied as educational contents in the area of “Language and Media” regarding the curriculum and textbooks. Based on the above discussion, Chapter 4 reveals the constructs that form the concept of fairness and relations among the constructs and specifies the criteria for judging the fairness of text. Furthermore, grounded on that, this study proposed educational direction for judging the fairness of text in the aspects of learning activities. The discussion of this research is significant in that it has identified the subconstructs implied in the concept of fairness and proposed educational direction of grammar education regarding fairness concretely.
