Abstract
Kwon Een In order to analyze the current reading situation of university students, this study examined data from university students among those collected in the “Readers, Non-Readers: 2018 YearBook” study. The analysis results are summarized as follows. First, university students were interested in books and reading. However, they did not specifically recognize reading’s purpose and method. Second, they viewed a “lack of time to read” as the biggest hindrance to reading. Third, non-readers have contradictory about the purpose or necessity of reading. This is a common characteristic that can be seen not only in Korean university students but also in university students from overseas.
