Abstract
This study uses the term reading trend discourse for the media representation of the emerging trend of reading in the AI and digital era, examining the manifested reading practices and their educational implications. LDA topic modeling was applied to 1,221 news articles selected, through preprocessing, from those retrieved using expressions that mediate this discourse, such as “text hip.” Four topics were identified: reading spaces and experiences, digital reading culture, literary enjoyment, and social reading and community. Based on these findings, the study proposes shaping reading spaces as places of culture and experience, using digital media to express and share reading experiences, designing reading education centered on literary enjoyment connected to students’ lives, and supporting non-readers while fostering communication competence through reading communities. By clarifying this discourse structure, the study identifies practical resources for enhancing students’ reading motivation.
