A Survey of Digital Literacies of High School Students — Focusing on Digital Literacy Activities and Efficacy

Abstract

This study conducted a nationalwide survey of 378 high school stu- dents to investigate the actual status of high school students’ digital liter- acy activities. The main results are as follows. First, students frequently used a smartphone, and the frequently performed activities were watch- ing videos, using messengers, and social media. Next, students tended to be reluctant to share or experienced difficulties in sharing and participa- tion, which are more emphasized in digital literacy. In addition, viewing learning content, searching for information, and reading on the Internet showed a relatively high correlation with digital literacy cognitive efficacy. Based on the research results, educational implications were suggested.
