Analysis of Quantitative researches in Korean language educational Journals

Abstract
This study has analyzed 219 research articles during 10 years(1991-2000) in two leading Korean language educational journals. In this study, researches are classified as conceptual research and empirical research, and the latter is divided into quantitative research, qualitative research, and mixing research. This study has focused on how many quantitative researches are presented, and how well their quality. The results are below. First, quantitative researches are very few in this period. Only 15 articles(6.8%) are presented. But as the latter half of decade, the quantity of research has growed and their quality better. Second, quantitative researches should be presented much more to establish Study of Korean Language Education as a science. Without quantitative researches, there is no conceptual research. theories, and practices. Third, quantitative research is compatible with qualitative research in Korean language education. Two methods could be interacted. Because Korean language education must observe teaching practices and it is social studies as well as applicable science, quantitative research method is much more needed.
