The Study on the critical mass media education curiculum

Abstract
The task of this essay is to design critical mass media education curriculum. How media education can connect with Korean language education is discussed from diverse point of view. In this essay, media education is beyond dimension of material and method of teaching and learning. Media education in Korean language education is very important to develop critical awareness of contemporary language culture. Mass media is very important role of shaping current culture. So, Mass media education is not only media language education but also current language culture education. Media education in Korean language education is two axises. One is 'autonomy', the other is 'the publicity'. The former needs to be empower citizen, the latter needs to be democratic citizen. Media literacy program in Korean language education has three step. The first stage is reading media text. Here, the student has ability to read symbolic convention, image and narrative schema, and interaction frame. The second stage is reading context. Here, the student has ability to interpret the ideology and social-cultural meaning of text in relevant to institution and power relation. The third stage is producing media text. Here, the student has ability to produce alternative media text. For this, teaching materials is not also media text but also reception text, and other media text. And teacher allows the mood of experimental and inquirable instruction.
