Media Education in Korean Language

Abstract
- Focused on cases of media education - Kim, Jeong-ja The fundamental objective media education is to make students develop media literacy. A media literate person can decode, evaluate, analyze, and produce both print and electronic media. Furthermore he can enjoy the culture of media. The contents for media education are established: they are knowledge about media, comprehending and producing media text, attitude about media, enjoying and producing the culture of media. During four weeks media education was carried in four schools. Television news, television dramas, newspaper news, editorials were taught according to curriculums which we had devised. To research reactions of students, we made up questions before and post lessons. And we conducted personal interviews with a number of students who had taken lessons. Most of students showed positive answers and attitude about media education. Media education doesn't be performed in the existing school system yet. Considering the literacy, it is appropriate and efficiency to perform media education in Korean language education. [key words] media education, media literacy
