Abstract
This study explores critical issues to be resolved in Korean education in the 2030s through an email questionnaire that was distributed to 30 Korean education experts. Their responses were analyzed and then categorized into five matters to be addressed: first, the Korean education curriculum must maintain its own values and consider integration among the domains; second, teacher education and teacher placement tests should be revised; third, the current textbook authorization system should be more flexible; fourth, teaching and learning in Korean education should be more authentic, student-centered, and competency-based; finally, the current assessment system—including classroom-based assessment and college entrance tests—should be revised in order to assess student competency. Based on these results, this work will discuss the future direction and suggestions for the education system.
