Abstract
This study aimed at analyzing the problems of the 7th curriculum for the department of the Korean language centering on ‘its contents’ and searching the alternatives to it. The analysis showed that in the aspect of selecting contents it fell behind in possibility of learning and balance, that in the aspect of organizing contents it is problematic in categorizing contents and connecting contents with each other, and that in the aspect of stating contents it lacked specific statement and relevant, consistent use of terms. The study argued that in order to solve the above problems at the point of time when the revision of the curriculum is discussed they should use a reservation strategy for revealing, substituting and restructuring what is wrong and what is impossible in the framework of the existing curriculum rather than prepare an entirely new framework. It is because developing a totally new curriculum can become another experimental object in the situation where basic studies for constructing the curriculum are not accumulated. In reforming the curriculum, they should not continue to make an educational experiment. Not repeating the errors in reforming the existing curriculum necessitates a complement strategy for correcting it partially, a reservation strategy for the contents with a little feasibility, and a communication activation strategy for improving the curriculum literacy of curriculum users.
