A Study on an Acceptance Aspect for Media Education in Korean Language Curriculum

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to inquire into a constituent of media education in character, aim, and content of a revised 7th Korean language curriculum. One of special changes in revised 7th Korean language curriculum is an acceptance of media education. The contents concerned media education reflect the changes of using environment of language such as multimedia and digital media. The changes of media environment lead to changes of contents in other subject as well as Korean language arts. The Korean language education need to accept the media education because the medium language is constituted with signs and meanings. And it is naturally that the acceptance and product of media text are included in contents of the Korean language education because the main activity of the Korean language education is the acceptance and product of texts. Especially, the acceptance of media education includes the extension of contents and linguistic capacity in Korean language education. But in revised 7th Korean language education, some problems is existed in the selection and presentation of contents. These are the unbalance of distribution of media education contents for grades and provinces, unbalance between acceptance education and product education, and illiberality of type and distribution of media texts.
