A Case Study on the Management of North Korean KFL Program Using Informants Interview Method -In-depth Interview with the Participants of Kim Hyong-jik Pedagogical University Korean Language Program

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate how North Korean Government managed the language training program cooperated with Chinese Government. To achieve this, in-depth interview was carried out into two Chinese informants. Through the interview, various aspects and organizations of KFL(Korean as a Foreign Language) education in North Korea were reconstructed. The informants participated in Korean language program from March to December in 2002, even dispatched to North Korea by recommendation of their professors and the authorities. They were selected in 6 universities in China, and placed to 2 university in North Korea ― the one is Kim Il-sung University and the other is Kim Hyong-jik Pedagogical University, which was two informants participated in. In the view of macro and micro evaluation in foreign language teaching program, this paper tried to draw a outlines of the North Korean KFL systems in university, such as administrations, class managements, teaching method, teaching materials, accommodation, daily life, extra class, and so on. In the interview, the informants testified diverse facts about North Korean KFL program. They satisfied all programs they were offered generally, however some of the program participants recognized the differences of the language between North and South Korea. They were not motivated to acquire North Korean way of language teaching completely.
