A Study on Teaching Method for Writing a Letter of Self-Introduction Using Analysis Questions

Abstract
This research develops an instrument for resolving difficulties of contents creation and selection, suggests writing guide to utilize the instrument, and confirms the effects of it based on the results of current state analysis on a letter of self-introduction writing. First of all, the study figured out that writing assignments require qualifications of an applicant and the creation of appropriate contents is the most difficult element of writing production by analyzing the current state of writing a letter of self-introduction. Next, the study developed a ‘qualification dictionary’ and a ‘table of analysis questions’ as the instruments of overcoming the difficulty of students as it considered the characteristics of self-introduction assignments. Lastly, the research ascertained the effects of writing guide utilizing analysis questions. The study verified writing results by comparing two groups. After first writing, the experimental group made a qualification dictionary, completed analysis questions, and then did second writing. The comparison group, on the other hand, did second writing as copy writing referring to examples. The change of writing results in the experimental group suggested that the qualification dictionary and the table of analysis questions had been utilized to create meaningful contents. According to the results of the analysis of the participants in the experimental group, those participants could overcome the difficulties of contents creation which they had faced on the writing production and also, they could raise the level of self-understanding. The change did not appear in the comparison group, or it appeared partially but the contents differed from those of the experimental group.
