A Study on the Need of De-militarism Communication Culture Education Considering the Life Cycle of Men

Abstract
The aim of this study is to criticize militarism having direct and indirect effect on communication culture at workplace and at home in Korea and also to examine the need of de-militarism communication culture education to university students who completed their military service. The study adopted a two-way focus group interview to analyze the point of possible conflict during the communication situation with women students after their return to the school. 3 male students who returned to the university after military service and 3 female students participated in the study, and the data were all recorded and transcribed for analysis. As a result, it was found in the communication method that male students who completed the military service had a self-righteous and high-handed tendency not to consider others’ emotion sensitively but focused on group directing the achievement of tasks. Regarding such tendency, female students who experienced interaction with them showed regret and anxiety of their way of communication because they lacked consideration of others and attempted to take initiative in their own. The research result can be used as an evidence of need of de-militarism communication culture education to university students who completed their military service. The 3 education target directions extracted from this study result may contribute to the development of more specific education contents and methods.
