Abstract
This study tries to look into the literary text on the korean language education as a foreign language. Undoubtedly, the first reason for trying to make use of the literary text is to raise up the communication skill of korean language. But, the literary text has another aspect of education as a teaching material. It includes culture education and literature education. So, we have to think about the meaning of literary text and the standard of selection text. The literary text on the korean language education as a foreign language has a different status from the literary text on the korean language education as a native language. It works not only a text of language education but also some special text of education including korean culture and literature. Because of these reasons, a working process of setting a standard of selection text is very important. In conclusion, I try to suggest some standard of selection text on this study. First, it has to be considered that literary text is distributed throughout all of level. A prose like a traditional tale is more suitable on lower level. Reaching a higher level, it is desirable that portion of a poetry and a modern literature is getting grower. And more important one to think about is that the text represents korean literature or not. So, the level of a student, the genres of literature, the time of writing text, and the representative quality are mostly considered when select a literary text.
