Knowledge Scope and Evaluation of the Korean Language Teacher Appointment Examination

Abstract
In Korea, elementary and secondary school teachers are appointed after a competitive examination to select candidates. This examination is conducted to identify high levels of competency . Teaching jobs are not popular jobs. However, the number of candidates taking the examination is very high. In 2017, there was a critical crisis in this test system. Through this crisis, the existence of parents, who are educational consumers, as education principals has become important . It has also been recognized that there is a great concern that the regional difference in education demand will be institutionalized. The examination should be made in consideration of the interests of the educational subjects. Competency testing methods should also be considered. It is necessary to verify the knowledge appropriate to the purpose of Korean language education. Especially in literary education, the teacher should be able to understand literature himself. To use an analogy, architectural knowledge should not be equipped with scaffolding knowledge. In order to unify education and selection, I propose the establishment of a professional graduate school for teachers like Law School or School of Medicine.
