Abstract
This study assessed the feasibility of online language and cultural exchange between Filipino and Korean students in public education. In addition, an case study conducted in conjunction with the free curriculum system for first-year middle school students was introduced. This examined the feasibility of international exchange classes in public education. A 17-week online language and cultural exchange class program was designed and delivered. In Korea, Filipino students were offered cultural education along with language education such as grammar and vocabulary; in the Philippines, Korean students received global citizenship education along with Filipino cultural education. The satisfaction and effectiveness of the program were evaluated. As a result, both Filipino and Korean students expressed their strong adherence to the three set outcomes of improving language and cultural skills, developing interest in the other country and language and desiring to participate in the program in the future.
