Abstract
The main purpose of this paper is to seek concrete methods in teaching and learning negotiation abilities that introduced in the revised Korean Language Curriculum of 2007. Negotiations play an effective role in mitigating conflicts and enhancing understandings of individual members of the society. Especially, a resolution of conflicts via a win-win negotiation would be able to provide positive and creative powers to the society. However, it is considered to be practically difficult to have classes on negotiations in the current Korean language curriculum because there are not many substantive guidance or previous studies on teaching and learning of negotiations. Hence this paper tried to review theories on negotiations and set goals and objectives in practical teaching and learning of negotiations taking account of necessary elements of ‘identifying a motive, developing an option, applying an objective standard’ in a successful win-win negotiation. Lastly, a suggestion is made in a way of studying the basic three elements in teaching and learning activities.
