Abstract
The research seeks to suggest directions for determining the content that needs to be included in the digital Korean textbook, including speaking, listening, reading and writing, which will be commercialized in 2013. Our research suggested that realistic content should feature in order to make self-study more effective compared to the investment cost. The main content items are as follows:First, the textbook provides spoken explanations of the meaning for lower grade students, multicultural and disabled children. Second, the listening materials were substituted for more story-based materials to make them more interesting to the children. Third, various materials related to the words that appear in the textbook, including their origins, proverbs, easily confused words, etc., are provided right next to the word concerned, in the ‘improving vocabulary’ section, to make using the book easier. Fourth, the teaching and learning materials that had been developed and distributed first are linked at the end of each chapter so that they can conveniently be used according to how individual students progress through the textbook. The digital textbook shown in this study is meaningful because it shows the types of useful content that can be utilized in the face of restricted technology and at low cost. The findings of this research might contribute to improving the digital Korean textbooks of the future.
