Abstract
Media Ecology is a science which sees media as an environment and studies the various effects of media on human beings. It includes the ecological viewpoint that human beings live while getting organically interacted with surrounding environments and the viewpoint that media is one of the environments which have tremendous effects on human beings. Of the principles of media ecology, it is needed to redefine what is necessary to media language education. First, we should tangibly recognize media environments, and understand the attributes and bias of the media. Second, we should understand the interaction between the media and social, political, and cultural institutions. Third, we should simultaneously understand the relationship among media and the current mixed media. We have critically studied the contents of Internet media language according to such principles. Most of the contents, which deal mainly with the Internet media as a communication instrument, are focused on enhancingits communication ability. And they stress ethics and manners in many cases. Such an emphasis on the enhancement of communication ability and ethical attitudes is indispensible to the contents of the Internet media language education. But if we see it from the ecological viewpoint we mentioned before, a lot of supplementation is needed. First of all, the characteristics which the media as an environment has and the effects which the media has due to those characteristics on human beings should be added andsupplemented. In addition, the relationship between the media and social, political, and cultural institutions should be added. And the understanding of the recent mixed media including the Internet should be added.
