Research on the Education of Media Taking into Account the Characteristics of the Learner in Korean Language Education

Abstract
When carrying out media education, it is an important task to prepare educational content that takes into account the learner’s characteristics when educating learners that are already accustomed to media. This study analyses the learners’ social media usage as it is the media that learners use the most extensively. It was discovered that using expressions within this media have become habituated and using the media to express emotions have become the usual mode of communication. Also the characteristic of teenagers that prioritise friendships have become strengthened in media culture so that the issue of relationships exist online 24 hours a day. Education that takes into account such characteristics of the learner needs to teach both the media itself as well as consider how to make use of the media. In particular, because the learners already make use of the media, the learners need to be led to examine the newly created culture, meaning, and modes of communication. Also, when creating media content, the focus needs to be on communication and the learners should be educated on how to make use of the creative expressions used in media language. This is because media is a tool in communication. Also, empathy needs to be at the centre of such communication. This is the way to educate learners to use media appropriately.
