Abstract
This paper aimed to examine the form of a literary reader and the process of creating a canon, called a classic;that is the process of completing a literature canon presented as a classic in the form of ‘Sun(選)’, which is based on 『Literary Readers』 written by Bang Jong Hyeon and Kim Hyoung Kyu. 『Literary Readers』 tried to get out of the reasoning from literary system and literary education system and to keep a sense of balance in ideology. However, around the establishment of the South Korean government, ideological balance was degraded into a crack, and a compiler themselves could not but start a mechanism, ‘selection- exclusion- (selection)’ or ‘selection-exclusion-replacement’. In this situation, a compiler made an effort to free themselves from the reasoning of the ideological unequal distribution and homogenization. What a compiler chose as a way for it was the discovery of a classic, which is somewhat free from an ideological standard. Likewise, 『Literary Readers』 by Bang Jong Hyeon and Kim Hyoung Kyu includes the multi-level of construction process to show historical contexts of a Korean language textbook. And it shows a model of literary readers to create the modern form of the Korean literary education. In addition, it is a meaningful text in that it takes on the role of a cultural lens to identify the background of the formation of the discussion about literary education on the basis of the first curriculum of the Korean mainly focusing on a classic and the history of Korean literature. However, there’s a limit to this paper in that the suggestion of this paper was just one of the methods to put a literary education system in more different ways and it failed to grasp the whole system.
