Using Kim Jong -sam’s Works as Literary Materials: A Critical Review — Focused on the “Literature” Textbook in High School

Abstract
Kim Jong-sam’s work has been included in every revised high school “Literature” textbook since his work “Civilian” was used in that of the 6th revised curriculum in 2015. However, a close examination of the use of his works as literature materials reveals that the educational value of his work was not sufficiently realized in terms of the selection of materials, the organic relevance between the material and learning goal, the arrangement of materials, and the suitability for learning activities. Therefore, this review investigated the method of using Kim Jong-sam’s works as literary materials by examining the aspects of his works in the aforementioned textbooks published to date. Additionally, the desirable application plan for these works is recommended while rethinking his value in literature education and specific methods of selecting his works as materials in a new way is proposed.
