A Study on the Teaching-learning Method for Integrated Grammar Education from Ecological Perspectives — Focused on ‘Collaborative Learning’

Abstract
The aim of this study is to suggest a teaching-learning method which is realized in an integrated way in organic relations of ‘man, language, and the environment’ based on ecological perspectives which maintains ‘general epistemology’ and ‘a relational view of the world.’ This is in order to make grammar education position itself properly in the ecology of Korean language education and in the ecology of learners to play its original role. A language works as a base of language activities with which its users communicate in a variety of situations and social and cultural contexts. It’s impossible to properly understand the original features of the language with grammar education which isolates its learners emphasizing segmental grammar knowledge only separated from human life. Grammar education can be carried out rightly only when lives of learners who use the language, linguistic understandings and expressions, esthetic and emotional cultivation and so forth are closely connected with each other and work together. Accordingly, this study looked at grammar education paying attention to ecological perspectives which stresses that everything in the world coexists being closely connected with other elements: Grammar education should be done in an integrated way in close and relational operation of elements of ‘language, man, and the environment.’In order to realize integrated grammar education from ecological perspectives which is realized in relational operation of ‘language, man, and the environment’ in the field, a teaching-learning method which corresponds with it should be prepared: The teaching-learning method is a concrete action program for effective realization of teaching-learning objectives and it has so significant a meaning that it determines the success or failure of teaching-learning as well as interactional methods between a teacher and learners. In this study, we tried to propose a grammar teaching-learning method focused on collaborative learning which is the closest to the ‘win-win teaching and learning method’ for integrated grammar education from ecological perspectives which is realized in relational operation of ‘language, man, and the environment.’
