Educational Contents of Public Apologies -Focusing on Acceptance Responses to Apologies

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to establish the educational contents of public apologies. The language of the act of apology is judged according to whether or not the subject(s) accept(s) the apology. In this study, I focused on a case involving a series of public apologies and identified the factors that influence on the acceptance of apologies in communication process. In cases when an apology becomes meaningful as a linguistic act by being accepted, the principles of expressions of apologies that are accepted are presented as educational contents of public apologies.
