Abstract
In this study, commonalities and differences of folk tales and interactive drama were derived through comparison, based on which the implications of the traditional ways of enjoying narratives for future narrative education were investigated. Fiction, participation, and variability shaped the common traits of folk tales and interactive drama. Contrariwise, in the case of interactive drama, the story composition did not have likelihood compared to folk tales. Moreover, the direction of the narrative in interactive drama is not driven by the participant’s choice; thus, the expected narrative is not formed. Furthermore, despite variations in the ending, in many cases it lacked narrative completeness. Based on these commonalities and differences, with regard to the implications for future narrative education, we note that the way we enjoy stories has gradually changed from a way of enjoying emotion to one of collecting various endings. In addition, it was confirmed that inexperienced speakers who cannot dominate the story serve to add variability and dynamism to the story.
