The Educational Necessity and Types of Reflective Language

Abstract
Teaching reflective language is necessary as it is a key point of human growth, countermeasure against social problems, and mechanism to overcome the limitations of linguistic communication. However, it has as yet not been sufficiently implemented in Korean language education. Thus, we must organize the educational contents of reflective language. There are three types of reflective language.: The repent-type comes from a sense of shame, combined with ethical value; the insight-type comes from a sense of curiosity, combined with epistemological value; the performance-type comes from a sense of dissatisfaction, combined with aesthetical value. These three types can overlap, allowing us to establish the order in which they are learned: repent-type → insight-type → performance-type.
